# A small and friendly hosting company

Published 2026-08-06

Eco Green Hosting began around Bath and Bristol with a practical offer for people, families, bloggers, sole traders and businesses that wanted to get online without buying more hosting than they needed.

The package names - Leaf, Branch, Tree and Forest - made that idea easy to follow. A simple site could start small, while people managing several domains or busier websites had room to move into a broader package.

## A carbon-positive aim

The original company drew attention to the energy used by information and communications technology. It stated that emissions from its data-centre use and wider operations were calculated so that additional tree planting could absorb more than the estimated total.

The core proposition joined three things: approachable hosting, useful website tools and a deliberate attempt to account for environmental impact.

## More than server space

Hosting was presented alongside domain names, email, a step-by-step website builder and web-design help. That combination was meant to give a first-time site owner a clearer path from an idea to a working web presence.
